Bundoora

Regarded as one of Melbourne’s top five “activity precincts”, with fast growing business, commercial and retail districts, this booming multicultural community is home to the flagship campus of La Trobe University and also hosts a campus for the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). The area was originally inhabited by the Kurnaj-berring tribe of the Wurundjeri clan and the suburb’s name is derived from ‘Kelbundoora’ after one of the Wurundjeri tribesmen.

The existing 235Ha La Trobe University campus will be revolutionised in a $5 billion project to incorporate a town centre, accommodation, a health and wellbeing park, research precinct and sports parks/complexes. FIFA Women’s World Cup participants, the Matildas, will be among those using the new sports hub as their base. The project is anticipated to generate over 20,000 new jobs and $3.5 billion in gross regional product in the next decade.

Bundoora provides housing versatility, with single and double storey family homes, apartments, terraces and townhouses. Styles range anywhere from brick veneer to timber homes, new builds, renovated homes and homes in their original condition. With the number of students enrolled at the university expected to increase from 28,000 to 40,000 over the next 10 years, housing will also be required to accommodate staff and students creating a surge in the rental market.

As a resident of Bundoora, you also have access to excellent retail centres including DFO Uni Hill & Polaris, Bundoora Square, Preston Market and Northland Shopping Centre, along with highly regarded schools and great transport connections to the airport and CBD.
