Figtree
Previously ranked as one of the top 10 New South Wales suburbs that buyers are watching, Figtree on Sydney’s south coast is a peaceful family hub with an attractive lifestyle.
Figtree is named after a giant (and famous) fig tree that took pride of place on the eastern side of the Princes Highway until it was cut down in 1996. While the suburb’s emblematic tree is no longer standing, the suburb itself still is and is a fast-growing inner western suburb of Wollongong. Located just seven kilometres west of Wollongong and 10 kilometres from scenic Mount Kembla and the Illawarra Escarpment, Figtree is ideally positioned to offer both bushland and water views from many of its properties. Along with impressive natural views, Figtree offers families easy access to public transport, shopping facilities, recreational parks, and local schools all within a short distance of Wollongong CBD.
If city shopping is too much of a stretch, Figtree Grove (previously Westfield Figtree) is conveniently located on the Princes Highway and has numerous speciality stores, department stores and boutiques. Dining options and cafes can also be found in an around Figtree Grove.
With the sweeping Illawarra Escarpment and Mount Kembla to the west and Mount Keira to the north, it’s safe to say that breathtaking scenery is one of Figtree’s most attractive aspects and is continually on offer to locals and visitors.
