Eynesbury
Located approx. 44km west of Melbourne, between Melton in the north and Wyndham to the south, Eynesbury is a developing township on the Werribee River. The traditional owners of the land are the Wadawurrung People, while the first European settlers were the Staughton family in 1841 from the town of the same name in the UK just north of London. They settled on 101,000 acres, with a 30,600-acre subdivision creating the township of Melton in 1852. Some 20 years later, it was further divided to create Exford, Nerowie and Staughton Vale.
It was around this time that the Staughtons built a grand homestead now listed as a Place of State Significance by the Victorian Heritage Council. Now known as Eynesbury Homestead and Gardens, it has many structures dating from 1870 to the 1940s and is now the centrepiece of a residential subdivision and developing town centre known as the ‘Eynesbury Quarter’. From evolving infrastructure and accommodation to a day spa, wedding venue and educational precinct, Eynesbury is rapidly becoming a lifestyle destination in Melbourne’s west.
Eynesbury is also home to one of Victoria's largest remaining grey box forests which is registered with the National Estate. The forest contains native flora and fauna including endangered species and has a number of walking trails for visitors to explore. The recently completed Eynesbury Recreation Reserve, too, provides valuable green space and facilities for the community including a large sports oval, tennis/netball courts, a playground, dog park and social pavilion.
The locality is walkable to local stores, essential services, the local state primary school, kindergarten and childcare centre, restaurants and a championship golf course. It is only a 20-minute drive from Pacific Werribee Shopping Centre in Hoppers Crossing, and half-an-hour to the amenities of Melton.
