Burswood
Primarily famed for its entertainment facilities and swanky apartments, Burswood spans three kilometres on a peninsular cradled by the Swan River. Whenever the word ‘Burswood’ is used, most Perthites automatically think of Perth’s only casino, formerly the Burswood Entertainment Complex. This precinct was later renamed and redeveloped into the Crown Entertainment Complex, housing high-end hotels, restaurants, bars, a convention and function centre, a theatre and a casino.
Burswood is home to Optus Stadium, built on what was once the state’s oldest golf course and seats 60,000 for football, cricket, soccer, rugby league and concerts. The world-class stadium sits adjacent to the Chevron Parkland and the iconic Matagarup Bridge, linking the peninsular to East Perth by a pedestrian bridge with climbing and zip lining adventures. The State Tennis Centre, Belmont Park Racecourse and Burswood Park are also part of the peninsular, also known as Burswood Island.
Situated five kilometres from Perth, Burswood has excellent transport links along Great Eastern Highway and the Burswood Train Station. Neighbouring Vic Park, Belmont Forum and Perth have excellent shopping facilities. The Perth Airport is just five kilometres from Burswood, and due to low-maintenance apartment living, the suburb is a favourite for Fly-in, Fly-out (FIFO) workers and jet setters.
