The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home is designed and constructed to maximise energy efficiency, achieving an 8 out of 10 star NatHERS energy rating. Constructed with a robust recycled brick exterior and high efficiency Structural Insulated Panel System (SIPS) envelope, the home is also built to last. The residence is equipped with cutting-edge systems and appliances and is powered by a 4.5 kWh solar PV array on the roof and 7.5 kWh battery storage system. A high efficiency electric heat pump provides for hot water and hydronic heating, supplied by solar energy system. The home is targeted to be carbon neutral in operation, massively reducing its environmental impact, as well as minimising energy bills for its residents. The residence is orientated to open out to the north, ensuring optimal solar penetration to warm the house in winter, with external block out blinds to all second level, north and west facing windows with cross ventilation and ceiling fans in place to cool the homes in summer. The hydronic system provides additional cooling with its innovative reverse cycle to actively cool the ground floor slab in summer. The residence has an airtight building envelope, providing thorough acoustic and thermal insulation that maintains comfortable temperatures all year around. The residence is also fitted with an Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) system which supplies constant fresh, filtered air throughout. The ERV system serves to further reduce the energy required to heat and cool the home, as well as serving as an air filtration system, ensuring the indoor environment is protected from dust, allergens and pollens. The kitchen opens up to a dining and living area with polished concrete flooring and double-glazed, timber framed full height Binq windows and doors that open up to the private, north facing courtyard. The kitchen features stainless steel benchtops, Fisher & Paykel appliances, lighting by Artefact Industries and feature pendant lights by Archier and Coco Flip. Upstairs, a large second lounge / study and two large bedrooms, including an ensuite to the master, feature ample storage and European-style double glazed tilt and turn windows by Binq bring in natural light and cross ventilation. In the bathrooms, Caroma Smart Command technology is installed to monitor water usage via an app, with its leak detection system able to identity leaks early and prevent damage. An underground rainwater collection tank is also installed to reduce the amount of water the home draws from our water reserves. The residence also has access to the landscaped front yard of the Davison Collaborative, which remains in shared ownerships and is managed by a simple owners corporation agreement which also provides cost effective building insurance. About the Davison Collaborative The Davison Collaborative is the story an architect, a sustainability consultant, and a development manager, who saw an opportunity to create a better way of building and living.
