Bomaderry

Drive about 4km north of Nowra across the Shoalhaven River and you’ll come across the lovely township of Bomaderry. This character filled hub dates back to the late 1800s and takes its name from the aboriginal word meaning “fighting ground” or “running water”, depending on the translation.

Known for its relaxed family atmosphere and great sense of community, the area has become a popular choice for young families and downsizers seeking a better way of life that’s relatively affordable and not too far from all the action in Nowra.

One of Bomaderry’s major drawcards is the train station that acts as the terminus of the South Coast Railway line, making it easily accessible to and from Sydney. The town centre is well equipped with two IGA supermarkets, a post office, chemist, newsagent, baker, hairdressers and other specialty stores, and it’s just a few minutes across the bridge to Nowra’s major retail and business amenities. Locals here enjoy the best of both worlds with the laid-back feel of a small village and all the facilities for employment and convenience close at hand.

There are several schools servicing the area, including Bomaderry Public School, Nowra Anglican College and Bomaderry High School, one of the major schools in the Shoalhaven region.

Trains from Sydney come in several times a day (after changing in Kiama) and there are public bus services connecting to towns as far south as Eden. This part of the south coast is also surrounded by picturesque bushwalks, farmland, boating & fishing activities in the Shoalhaven, and a choice of pristine beaches up and down the coastline.
